New Role At Eagles

Eagle’s defensive wall was getting easily breached as they went on to concede 109 points in the last 3 games.  To keep the playoff hopes alive, the Eagles were bound to make a change in their approach. Matt Patricia replaced Sean Desai to take on the defensive coach role.

At 49, Matt Patricia, previously a seasoned Patriots coordinator and a protégé of Bill Belichick, joined the Eagles in April. Initially, the Eagles included him on their coaching roster on their website before formally confirming his hiring. However, his name was later unexpectedly taken down, leading Coach Nick Sirianni to mention that the Eagles were moving toward bringing Patricia onto their staff.

During a span of 14 years from 2004 to 2017, Matt Patricia was part of the Patriots’ organization, serving in various capacities. His journey included roles such as offensive assistant, assistant offensive line coach, linebackers coach, safeties coach, and eventually ascending to the position of defensive coordinator. Following his tenure with the Patriots, he transitioned to the Lions, stepping in to succeed head coach Jim Caldwell, who had achieved a 9-7 record before his removal in 2017.

Patricia’s time in Detroit was marked by limited success, ending his 2½-year term with a record of 13-29-1 (.314). His tenure came to an end during the 2020 season when he was dismissed from his position.

Following his departure from Detroit, Patricia rejoined the Patriots as a senior football adviser. However, in 2022, his role as the offensive play-caller was challenging, overseeing an offense that struggled, averaging only 18.1 points per game. Subsequently, Belichick decided to let go of Patricia after the conclusion of the last season.

Matt Patricia’s Weight Loss Journey

Matt Patricia, who started his career as a rocket scientist, had made a mark on the football field with his coaching style. However, his weight loss journey has left numerous NFL fans wondering about his fitness regime.

Counting Calories

Matt’s approach to dieting stands out significantly from conventional methods. Unlike adhering to strict calorie counts or prescribed meal plans found in books or online sources, he doesn’t compel himself to eat every two hours. Instead, he opts for a schedule aligned with his routine, prioritizing regular meal times rather than adhering strictly to someone else’s dietary regulations.

He firmly believes that eating in response to hunger cues is the optimal way because it empowers individuals to make their food choices, contrasting with being dictated by external rules. Moreover, he contends that consuming sufficient calories facilitates efficient weight loss without the need for deprivation or starvation tactics.

On top of that including an adequate amount of vegetables and fruits in your diet is a great way to lose weight without a rigorous diet.

Breaking Sweat

He was working about 30 minutes daily while walking a few miles regularly. Alongside a healthy sleep cycle and reduced screen time, Matt was following the tips of a professional fitness trainer. This is what he said about exercising-

“I was following a workout routine that was designed by a fitness trainer. It was very intense and included weight training and cardio, but it wasn’t for beginners. It took me about three months to get into this routine properly.

The first thing I did was add some weights to my arms and upper body. Then I added weights to my legs and back, which made a big difference in terms of strength and endurance.

After about six months of working out regularly every day, I noticed that my clothes were fitting looser than they used to even though I was still dieting regularly (as well as logging and exercising). So I stopped dieting for two weeks so that my body could adjust to being not under stress anymore; then I switched back over to dieting again until my clothes fit better again — which only took another couple of months!”

Final Words

Along with a dieting plan and fitness regime, a slight shift in the mindset can certainly help you to lose weight. Matt kept the process simple and hassle-free by writing his down everything he ate. Thus, he was able to lose ample weight in a limited time. Whether he will change the fortune of Eagle’s defense or not is yet to be discovered but his weight loss journey is certainly inspiring.
