Trey Gowdy is a former American politician, TV news presenter, author, and ex-federal lawyer, who served as a congressman representing South Carolina. From 2011 to 2019, Trey Gowdy served as the US representative for the 4th congressional district of South Carolina which included Greenville and Spartanburg regions of Upstate in South Carolina.
Harold Watson “Trey” Gowdy III was born in August 1964 in Greenville, South Carolina, and brought up in Spartanburg, where he used to deliver local newspapers and work at the community market at a young age. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history in 1986, from Baylor University, after which, in 1989, he graduated Juris Doctor from the University Of South Carolina School Of Law. Before he became a congressman, Gowdy worked as a federal attorney from 1994 to 2000 in the district of South Carolina, and then as district attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit of South Carolina from 2000 to 2010.
He was the chairperson of the United States House Select Committee on Benghazi between 2014 and 2016, which was involved in unearthing the private email server of Hillary Clinton. He was also involved in pressing for charges against Hillary Clinton, the then-US Secretary of State during the presidential election campaigns in 2016. In January 2018, Trey Gowdy expressed his intention to pursue a career in law and not politics, thereby announcing his decision to not seek reelection that year. After his announcement, he re-associated himself with law firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough and also became a contributor on Fox News, working as an interim host of “Fox News Primetime” in 2021. The same year he became the host of the popular TV program, “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy”, and in 2023, after Tucker Carlson was fired, Gowdy was seen appearing as the guest host of “Fox News Tonight”.

Some people believe that Gowdy might have needed surgery after being involved in a horrible car accident in June 2020.
While Trey Gowdy was riding the car as a passenger, his close friend, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle and collided with another vehicle on an exit ramp close to I-85 near Spartanburg in South Carolina at 12:30 at night. The massive collision caused their car to start flipping several times until it finally stopped after landing in a ditch. Though Gowdy had his seatbelt on, it was not fastened securely enough, which caused him to suffer multiple injuries on his face including his jawbone, nose, and cheeks.
Gowdy was immediately taken to the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he had to undergo surgery and treatment for his injuries and wounds. Reportedly, he suffered multiple fractures to his bones in the face, which might be how his face got affected, forcing him to opt for plastic surgery.
